Home Master Programme (MILE) Applications
Arrival in Switzerland |
VisaStudents need to apply for a visa at the Swiss Embassy or Consulate in their home country. The visa application process should be started as early as possible, as it can take several weeks for the Swiss immigration office to correspond with its Swiss Embassies abroad. Students with a tourist visa cannot be admitted to the MILE Programme. Citizens from EU and EEA countries do not require a visa. All foreigners need to register once they have arrived in Switzerland. Health InsuranceHealth insurance is mandatory for all Swiss residents, which includes Swiss nationals as well as foreign students at a Swiss institution. The WTI can assist students to get an appropriate insurance plan. If you have an insurance that covers your health expenses in Switzerland, a special form has to be filled in and submitted to the Swiss Government. • Info Health Insurance.pdfAccomodationDue to the limited availability of student accommodation and high prices of apartments in Berne, it is highly recommended to rent a room (double or single) in one of the student residences in Tscharnergut, Fellergut or Kanonenweg. Please note that the WTI is not in a position to guarantee accommodation in Berne and cannot rent an apartment for you. • Bernese Student Residence (VBSL)• Furnished Temporary Apartments (Plan-it)• Furnished Temporary Flats (UMS)• University of Berne Accomodation Service (only in German)• different furnished apartments• Rooms in shared apartments[ Back ]
