Financial Aid
The World Trade Institute (WTI) has some but limited funds available to help you participate in the MILE Programme if required.
The WTI has access to a number of scholarships funded by the Swiss State Secretariat of Economic Affairs (SECO) and the Ecoscientia Foundation and may extend partial or full tuition waivers to qualified applicants.
The WTI cannot guarantee financial assistance to all students, which is why we strongly encourage you to apply with other sources as well. Some options are provided on the right.
To gain access to any type of WTI funding, please fill in the Application for Financial Aid form [download] and submit it along with your other application documents. Decisions concerning financial aid are made after your admission to the MILE.
Tuition Waivers
To allow high-potential students without access to scholarships or other financial aid to participate in the MILE, the WTI has the limited ability to grant tuition waivers.
A tuition waiver is tailored to your financial situation and reduces the amount of tuition you are charged for studying in the MILE Programme. The overall amount of tuition waved by the WTI largely depends on the amount of third-party funding we can secure. It remains your responsibility to secure enough funding to cover your costs of living and other expenses.
We cannot guarantee tuition waivers. We will grant you a tuition waiver only upon academic admission.
SECO Scholarships
The Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) may fund your participation in the MILE Programme if you are a native of one their priority countries.
SECO Scholarships cover your entire tuition fee and include a monthly living allowance for your time in Switzerland. The decision to fund you is made by SECO after you have been admitted to the MILE Programme academically. Please note that the WTI has no influence on SECO's decision to award these scholarships.
Ecoscientia Foundation Scholarships
If you are a native of a European country (including Switzerland), you may be eligible for one of three full-tuition scholarships from the Ecoscientia Foundation.
The Ecoscientia Scholarship covers your entire tuition. You would be required to cover your costs of living and other expenses however. The decision to fund you is made by the Ecoscientia Foundation after you have been admitted to the MILE Programme academically.
Please note that the WTI has no influence on the Ecoscientia Foundation's decision to award these scholarships.
Other Sources of Funding
We encourage you to apply for outside funding with governments, foundations and other institutions once you have been academically admitted to the MILE.
A few options you should consider pursuing are listed on the right.
