The Selection Process

To be considered for admission to the Master of International Law and Economics (MILE) Programme at the World Trade Institute, we require you to have completed at least an undergraduate degree.

The majority of our students has a background in law, economics or political sciences. If you have a background in a different field, you are nonetheless encouraged to apply. A graduate degree in a related field and/or work experience in the field of international trade give you a bonus when the Selection Committee evaluates your application.

The selection process is non-discriminatory as to nationality, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation or age. We make an extra effort to admit students with limited financial means, if possible within our means of awarding scholarships/financial aid and tuition waivers.

Full and Part-time Study

We strongly encourage you to pursue the MILE full-time and dedicate one year to your studies at the World Trade Institute.

If you are an international student joining MILE with a Swiss student visa, you are required to enroll on a full-time basis. If you are a permanent resident of Switzerland you have the option to pursue the MILE part-time. We require you to complete all coursework within two years.

Given the workload and compulsory attendance of MILE classes, it is nearly impossible to work part-time while studying and we strongly advise against it.

Reactivation of a Previous Application

The Office of Admissions at the WTI will retain your application documents for one year if you choose to defer admission. If you have previously applied to MILE, we ask you to reactivate your application by all resubmitting all documents which need to be updated.

Any scholarships/tuition waivers awarded by the WTI cannot be deferred to future years. If you were awarded a scholarship or any other form of financial aid, you will need to resubmit an updated Application for Financial Aid.
