Applications
Requirements
The World Trade Institute (WTI) and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) are jointly organising a Summer Programme on Intellectual Property in Hong Kong. This course is aimed at government representatives, practitioners and students who wish to deepen their knowledge of the law and economics of international intellectual property protection.
The Summer Programme is open to anyone who has graduated from a tertiary educational institution (bachelor’s degree or equivalent) or who is in the process of doing so (advanced undergraduate students). Applicants should be able to demonstrate an excellent command of English and should be ready to read a large amount of material in English both prior to and during the Summer Programme.
When to Apply
The World Trade Institute and the CUHK Faculty of Law are currently accepting applications for the Summer Programme. Spaces are limited and qualified applicants will be accepted on a "first-come-first-served" basis.
How to Apply
Applying to the Summer Programme is easy. Just fill out the form for the Summer Programme 2012 and send it to: hongkong(at)wti.org
Please use only the electronic application form. To fill in the PDF you will need the latest version of Acrobat Reader. You will find both under ´more information´ on the right hand side.
There is no application fee (but see our cancellation policy under the section on fees).
Fees
The regular fee for attending the full two-week Summer Programme is 18,000 HKD. Applicants also have the option to attend for one week only (participation fee for one week: 10,000 HKD). Students get a 33% reduction on the tuition fee if they provide a confirmation of enrolment or a student card of their home university (reduced fee: 12,000 HKD for the full two weeks, 7,000 HKD for one week). Students of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the University of Bern can attend the Summer Programme for a reduced tuition fee of 8’000 HKD for the full two weeks or 5’000 HKD for one week.
Payment must be made in HKD to the WTI bank account. Due to the limited number of places, payment is due upon acceptance to the programme. Please note that these fees do not cover either board or lodgings.
Deadline
Applications are accepted until the maximum number of participants is reached.
Cancellation Policy
There is no application fee; however, the following deadlines and penalties apply for people who apply and have been accepted to the programme, but who subsequently withdraw:
- Cancellations before March 2012: the WTI/CUHK deducts 1,000 HKD in order to cover banking fees and administrative costs
- Cancellations before the end of May 2012: WTI/CUHK deducts 30% and refunds 70% of tuition fee
- Cancellations before the end of June 2012: WTI/CUHK deducts 50% and refunds 50% of tuition fee
- No show = no refund
Financial Aid
The WTI and the CUHK Law Faculty will not be granting scholarships for the Summer Programme. Financial aid, if needed, should be requested from other donor organisations or institutions.
