Extracurricular Activities

Hong Kong is a city-state enclosed by the Pearl River Delta and the South China Sea. As one of the world's leading international financial centres, it has a major capitalist service economy characterised by low taxation and free trade.

Hong Kong offers a variety of memorable tourist attractions within its compact area, with the Peak, Victoria Harbour and the Giant Buddha among the most awe-inspiring. Furthermore, the city hosts a broad range of fascinating and exciting events ranging from colourful local festivals to world-class arts and sports events. Concerts, theatre and dance performances by famous international artists and local Canto-pop singers create memorable experiences. The city's various markets offer a wide variety of the latest products ranging from books to electronics to flowers. Renowned as the culinary capital of Asia, Hong Kong boasts more than 11,000 restaurants, many of them clustered in defined food districts. Apart from enjoying the best Cantonese and regional Chinese food, visitors can sample a full choice of authentic Asian cuisines and Western fare.

The lack of space led to a demand for denser constructions, which has in turn developed the city into a centre for modern architecture and the world's most vertical city. Thirty-six of the world's 100 tallest residential buildings are in Hong Kong. The highly developed transportation network is used by more than 90% of Hong Kong residents.

Although Hong Kong is one of the most densely populated areas in the world, less than 25% of the territory's landmass is developed, and about 40% of the remaining land area is reserved for country parks and nature reserves. Many are surprised to find that Hong Kong is actually home to some stunning landscapes and breathtaking scenery. You are never far from the sea in Hong Kong and going a good beach is always only a bus-ride away. With more than 200 outlying islands, as well as an extensive coastline that is jam-packed with impressive bays and beaches, you will surely come across some beautiful beaches on which to while the day away.
