Applications
Requirements
The Summer Academy, unlike the WTI's Master's Programme (MILE), is essentially open to anyone who has graduated from a tertiary educational institution (bachelors degree or equivalent) or who is in the process of doing so (undergraduate students). Applicants should be able to demonstrate an excellent command of English and should be ready to read a large amount of material in English both prior to and during the Summer Academy.
When to Apply
The WTI is currently accepting applications for the Summer Academy. However, spaces are limited and experience has shown that they tend to fill up quickly. Qualified applicants will be accepted on a "first-come-first-served" basis.
How to Apply
Applying to the Summer Academy is easy. Just fill out the form for the Summer Academy 2012 and send it, together with a copy of your CV to: summer(at)wti.org
There is no application fee (however see our cancellation policy under the section on fees).
Please use only the electronic application form. To fill in the PDF you will need the latest version of Acrobat Reader. You will find both under ´more information´ on the right hand side.
Fees
The fee for attending the full 5-week Summer Academy is 5,250 Swiss Francs (CHF). Applicants also have the option to attend individual weeks.
- 1 week = CHF 1,300
- 2 weeks = CHF 2,500
- 3 weeks = CHF 3,600
- 4 weeks = CHF 4,500
- 5 weeks = CHF 5,250
Payment must be made in Swiss Francs. Due to the limited number of places, payment is due upon acceptance to the programme. Please note that these fees do not cover either board or lodgings. Students get a 60% deduction of the tuition fee if they provide a confirmation of enrolment or a student card of their home university. Students of the University of Bern pay CHF 300 per week.
Deadline
The WTI is still accepting applications for the Summer Academy in 2012. Applications are accepted until the maximum number of participants is reached.
Cancellation Policy
There is no application fee, however, the following deadlines and penalties apply for people who apply and have been accepted to the programme, but who subsequently withdraw:
- Cancellations before May 2012: the WTI deducts CHF 100 in order to cover banking fees
- Cancellations during May 2012: the WTI deducts 30% and refunds 70% of tuition fee
- Cancellations during June 2012: the WTI deducts 50% and refunds 50% of tuition fee
- No show = no refund
Financial Aid
The WTI will not be granting scholarships for the Summer Academy. Financial aid, if needed, should be requested from other donor organisations or institutions.
