COURSE PROGRAMME

General Information

Accommodation

Due to the limited availability of student accommodation and high prices of apartments in Bern, it is highly recommended that you rent a room (double or single) in one of the student residences in Tscharnergut, Fellergut or Kanonenweg. Please note that the WTI is not in a position to guarantee accommodation in Bern and cannot rent an apartment for you. More information and further options can be found in the grey box on the right.

Accreditation of 10 ECTS

The Summer Academy is accredited with 10 ECTS points which can be awarded to students provided the five weeks' attendance is followed by successfully passing the relevant examination. The Summer Academy examination is approved by the Faculty of Law of the University of Bern. The 10 ECTS points also count towards the Master of Law degree (at the University of Bern). Bern law students can apply for a partial fee waiver. The course, however, is not open to students attending the course on International Trade Regulation at the University of Bern, which has partially overlapping content.

Important Logistical Information

Participants registered for the 2012 Summer Academy will have login information for the University of Bern/World Trade Institute online course management system sent to them via email in June. With this login information, participants will have access to the course syllabi and readings, in addition to being provided with a binder containing the printed compulsory readings upon their arrival.

Visa

Students need to apply for a visa at the Swiss Embassy or Consulate in their home country. The visa application process should be started as early as possible, as it can take several weeks for the Swiss immigration office to correspond with its Swiss Embassies abroad. Citizens from EU and EEA countries do not require a visa.
