International Investment Initiative

The International Investment Initiative (I3) at the World Trade Institute provides a framework to study the relationship between trade and investment law and policy.

I3 has three objectives at its core:

  • lay the foundation for integrated study and application of economic law in investment and trade, bridging the gap between disciplines;
  • supply state-of-the-art training and advisory services and perform cutting-edge research on investment issues;
  • and establish the WTI as a forum for dialogue between stakeholders.

The most important activities in 2011 are the World Trade Forum on “New Directions & Emerging Challenges in International Investment Law and Policy”.  Research is conducted within projects of the NCCR Trade Regulation network. Several training courses on international investment law and policy take place during the WTI Summer Academy and its Master (MILE) Programme. Outreach activities are organised in Geneva and Brussels in cooperation with various stake holders and partner organisations.
