Bolliger Romuald - France/Switzerland Print
Romuald Bolliger was born in a multicultural environment on the French side of the Rhine River.  As such he realised that in our global village it was crucial to encounter and understand different cultures in Europe and abroad.  These “soft skills” appeared to be essential to start his academic journey.

In his first round of studies he became increasingly interested in European integration from a French-German perspective.  In 2007 he graduated cum laude from the cross border Master in Cooperation and Communication from the Universities of Saarland, Metz and Luxembourg.  His dissertation paper analysed the legal scope of cross border cooperation instances.
In order to consolidate his major he decided to pursue one more year at the Institute of Political Studies in Strasbourg.  The programme focused on political science and public administration. During this year he had the opportunity to assist a German deputy at the European Parliament and experience “real-time” EU decision-making.

In order to link hard skills with soft skills Romuald decided to pursue his postgraduate studies in the field of diplomacy.  Apart from international law and economics lectures, he took part in various Euromed conferences and set up a network of young diplomats.  In his second master thesis he analyses the relationship between Swiss foreign policy and the Mediterranean region.  Currently his main focus areas are water diplomacy and conflict resolution.  This year he seeks to create an NGO in cooperation and development.  In his free time he also likes sports and music.
