Lerato is a Trade Promotion Officer at the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Cooperatives and Marketing (MTICM) in the Kingdom of Lesotho. She has a background in Business Administration. She attended the 42nd WTO Trade Policy Course in Geneva, Switzerland where she developed an eagerness to know more about international trade. As a result, she supplemented her studies with a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Management Practice, Trade Law and Policy) at the Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town in South Africa.
Lerato started working at MTICM in 2003 as a consumer welfare officer, ensuring that the terms of trade are favourable to consumers and constantly going through consumer education. In 2004 she joined the External Trade Section and was tasked with the development of small scale producers with main concentration on the handicraft sector and handled both trade promotion and market development activities. In 2008 she was appointed part of Lesotho’s negotiation team for the Southern African Customs Union (SACU) bilateral negotiations with third parties and also part of the SACU Technical Liaison Committees. Net-ball is her favourite sport; therefore, she spends her free time at the gym or jogging. Travelling and listening to house music are some of her hobbies and she puts all her trust in God Almighty in everything she does.
