Lentheng Tswai is an agricultural economist by profession. He has an honours degree in agricultural economics from a local university in South Africa. He has fourteen years of work experience. He started his working career as a development economist for a rural development company where he provided economic advice for rural projects. He then joined the national government and worked in the international trade division of the Department of Agriculture, where he is still currently employed. He initially started working on multilateral trade issues and was responsible for overseeing South Africa`s compliance with her WTO agricultural trade reform commitments in the areas of market access, domestic support and export subsides. He was also involved in the Doha negotiations process. His current work responsibilities are overseeing South Africa`s agricultural trade relations with African countries. He manages the country`s participation in the regional integration processes of the Southern African Customs Union (SACU), the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and beyond. His interests are playing soccer, jogging, listening to music, gardening and doing handy work (welding, carpentry, building and some interior decoration).
