Bertram Boie contributes to the research of the current NCCR framework with work on the topic of the regulation of inward investments into the EU. This research analyses options for a possible EU investment review mechanism. The issue is of relevance for the Union's emerging international investment policy that has to deal with increasing inward investment flows from emerging and developing economies. This research is being undertaken jointly with Professor Julien Chaisse (Chinese University of Hong Kong).

 

Dr Boie holds a PhD from the World Trade Institute. His thesis is entitled 'The State and Prospects of Sino-European Investment Protection: Towards Progress in a Fragmented Area of Law'. Dr Boie has been a consultant on investment related matters for international organizations including the World Bank, UNCTAD, UNESCAP and the ILO, and he has worked at an investment advisory firm in Beijing. Dr Boie holds an LLM in European and international economic law from Maastricht University and he studied international relations at the TU Dresden’s Centre for International Studies.
