Justina A.V. Fischer is a Senior Research Fellow at the World Trade Institute and an Associate Professor at the University of Oradea, and author of more than 100 scholarly publications on political economy and behavioural economics. Her research focus is on the impact of institutions (democracy, federalism, social norms, globalization) on policy outcomes such as welfare, labor markets, social capital, and education. Her work has been published in leading journals such as the International Economic Review, Social Choice and Welfare, the European Journal of Political Economy. Being among the top 5% of female economists in the world and the top 8% of economists in Europe according to the IDEAS database rankings (source: http://ideas.repec.org/top/), she was a visiting full professor at the University of Hamburg. In addition, has held positions at the University of Rome ‘Tor Vergata’, the University of Mannheim, the Stockholm School of Economics, the London School of Economics, and the University of Stanford. She conducted applied research at the German Institute of Economic Research (DIW) and worked as an expert for happiness research at the OECD (Paris). Justina A.V. Fischer completed her graduate education in Economics (Ph.D.) at the University of St.Gallen, the European University Institute, the University of Heidelberg and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She also studied Law at the University of Regensburg and holds a Certificate in South-Asian Studies from the University of Heidelberg.
