Mr Akihiro Ishimoto was born in Japan and relocated to Melbourne, Australia with his family at the age of twelve. He continued his education, graduating from Monash University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Sociology and History/Politics, and a minor in Human Resource Management. Following graduation he returned to Japan to begin a Master's of International Economic Law at Yokohama National University. Under the supervision of Professor Ichiro Araki, he took part in study groups on Sustainable Development, International Economic Law and International Development as well as field trips to Malaysia, the Philippines, and Kenya.

Akihiro also participated in the ELSA WTO Moot Court in 2009-2010 Asia/ Pacific Round, in Taiwan. While studying he was selected to be part of the Japanese Youth Delegation of the Voices of the Future to attend the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Yokohama 2010.

In his spare time, Akihiro enjoys composing or arranging compositions for concert bands and cooking for friends.
