Rachel Liechti has been a Senior Research Fellow and Deputy of the Director at the Institute for European and International Economic Law, University of Bern since 2008. Since 2009 she has also served as a Member of the World Trade Institute Board of Trustees. Prior to taking up her current position, she worked at the same Institute as an assistant from 2002–2007.

 

In the current NCCR phase, she will be focusing on the Regulatory Challenge of Nanotechnology together with Dannie Jost and Georg Karlaganis. This research builds upon a legal opinion on the Regulatory Requirements for Nanomaterials under WTO Law to the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment, together with Thomas Cottier and Dannie Jost and prior to that, on the EU Regulation Concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) and WTO Law: Assessing Compatibility and Swiss Options, with Thomas Cottier.
