The aim of the teaching programmes at the World Trade Institute (WTI) is to significantly contribute to global capacity building in the field of International Trade Regulation.
The WTI's flagship educational programme is the Master of International Law and Economics (MILE). In addition, a Summer Academy and various Tailor-Made Courses are organised on a regular basis. At this time, the WTI cannot award doctoral degrees. Doctoral studies need to be pursued with the respective department at the University of Berne.
In its beginning phase, the World Trade Institute received generous support from the Economic Department of the Canton of Berne, private sponsors such as Baker & McKenzie, the Swiss University Conference (CUS), the University of Berne, as well as invaluable assistance from the other two BENEFRI institutions, the University of Fribourg and the University of Neuchâtel. The Swiss University Conference (CUS) continues to provide financial support. We are particularly interested in seeking new sponsors to provide scholarships for students from developing countries wishing to attend the Master Programme.
