MILE 12, Georges Bauer

MILE 12
USA/Switzerland

Georges Bauer graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2006, earning degrees in Political Science (International Relations track) and Economics. At the time of his graduation, Georges had already secured a full time position as a member of staff to U.S. Senator Bill Nelson’s constituent services office in Orlando, Florida. During this time, Georges gained valuable insight into the pressure public officials experience from the public on a wide range of issues. After a year and a half with Senator Nelson, Georges relocated to the United Kingdom in search of international experience and promptly found employment at HR Trustees Limited, a pension trustee firm. This position offered first hand experience in finance, accounting and project management. However, his interest and desire to work in the international field led him to apply to the MILE program. As a result, Georges has gained valuable insight and a better understanding of the international trade system and regulations. During the MILE course, Georges became interested in Intellectual Property issues, specifically as it relates to biodiversity, traditional knowledge and how countries can use these resources as a tool for development.  Georges is fluent in both English and Spanish, and can speak some Portuguese as well. Interests include cycling, football, Formula 1, music and travel.
