Adriana Pérez-Gil Ochoa studied Law at the Faculty of Law of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and obtained an honours degree in Law and a pre-specialisation in International Law in 2010. While studying at the Faculty of Law, she worked as a research assistant at the Legal Institute of the UNAM, focusing on constitutional law, as well as international and comparative law issues. In 2009, she was appointed as a panellist’s assistant in the Bi-national Panel Review of Light-Walled Rectangular Pipe and Tube from Mexico under NAFTA Chapter XIX. From 2009 to 2012 she worked as an associate lawyer for a private law firm focusing on international trade and foreign investment law advice. In May 2011, Adriana obtained a diploma in “Investment Protection Law and Investor-State Dispute Settlement Mechanisms” from the Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey (ITESM) and the Arbitration Center of Mexico (CAM). After the MILE programme she returned to Mexico City to continue her work in international trade and investment law, with the aim of putting into practice the knowledge she had acquired. Adriana has a special interest in encouraging the design and implementation of trade facilitation public policies, as well as the enforcement of trade and investment related international commitments, in order to contribute to the economic development of her country. Adriana is a Spanish native speaker. She is fluent in English and has basic French.
