Varun Eknath works as a Private Sector Development Analyst in the Business Enabling Environment Unit of the Global Indicators Group at the World Bank Group. His work focuses on business regulation reforms, investment promotion, bankruptcy and international trade.

Previously, he worked for the Doing Business project on issues of corporate governance and shareholder rights.

Varun holds a Master’s degree in Law and Economics (MILE) from the World Trade Institute (WTI), Bern, Switzerland and a degree in law from National Law University, Delhi, India.

Prior to joining the World Bank Group, Varun practiced law in India and worked for the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD) in Geneva, and the WTI in Bern.

He speaks Hindi and is conversant in French and Russian.
