Research assistant, DESTA
Livia Tomás has worked as a research assistant for the DESTA project since April 2018. She is involved in the compilation of a new data set on the design of preferential trade agreements in collaboration with the OECD. She was part of the DESTA project previously, where she worked on a data set focusing on intellectual property rights. Before joining the WTI, Livia Tomás worked as a trainee at the State Secretariat for Migration in Bern, where she was primarily in charge of the screening of work permit applications for Non-EU/EFTA nationals.
Livia Tomás holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences from the University of Bern and started her master’s degree in Culture, Politics and Religion in pluralist Societies in February 2016. Her current studies analyse different subjects around 'cultural diversity and social identity' from a sociological and political point of view. As a social scientist, she has a particular interest in questions concerning migration, political and economic trends and data analysis. Livia speaks German and French (native) and is fluent in English and Spanish.
