Jens Hillebrand Pohl is a Visiting Research Fellow with the World Trade Institute (WTI) and a doctoral researcher and lecturer at Maastricht University, Faculty of Law. His current research focuses on innovation in transnational economic governance, specifically on reforming and finding workable alternatives and improvements to today’s treaty-based investment protection regime. Jens’ broad area of specialisation is international procedural law, in particular procedural aspects of international economic law and EU external trade and investment.

Jens is an English and Irish solicitor and a member of the New York Bar. He has for several years worked for law firms and international organisations in the United States and Europe advising global financial institutions and businesses on contentious matters of international finance, trade and investment. He holds an LL.M. from Harvard Law School, where he served as Articles Editor of the Harvard International Law Journal, an M.Sc. in Economics from Stockholm School of Economics and a Jur. Kand. (LL.M./LL.B.) degree from the universities of Stockholm and Uppsala.
