Brown Bag Seminar on Access to Interoperability Standards in Intellectual Property and Competition Law: International Approaches

By Simon Brinsmead, Principal Legal Officer, Office of International Law, Attorney-General's Department (Australia)

The legal qualification and effects of private technology standards essential for interoperability of different systems, in particular in IT and telecommunications, poses a host of timely complex problems and challenges, interfacing competition and intellectual property protection in domestic and international law.

Simon Brinsmead presents results from research within his professional work at the Office of International Law in Canberra and his PhD submitted to the Faculty of Law of the University of Bern.

The brown bag luncheon presentation is of interest particularly to IP and competition lawyers and scholars of international trade law and policy.
