Alumni Talk with Kholofelo Kugler: "What’s Trade Got to do with AI?"

On October 10, the World Trade Institute is pleased to welcome back Alumna (MILE 14) Kholofelo Kugler

WTI Alumna' Kholofelo Kugler full biography

Kholofelo Kugler is currently a PhD Fellow in the project Trade Law 4.0 at the University of Lucerne, Switzerland. She is an international trade lawyer who is on sabbatical leave from the Advisory Centre on WTO Law in Geneva, Switzerland to pursue her research interests in digital trade. She has advised, litigated on behalf of, and provided capacity building/technical assistance to developing countries and least-developed countries in the area of WTO law.

Kholofelo is also a Visiting Fellow at the Law School of the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa (Wits University). Additionally, she lectures international trade law at Wits University and the University of the Western Cape in South Africa – she has been a guest lecturer at Howard University (USA), the Graduate Institute (Geneva), Maastricht University (the Netherlands), and the University of the West Indies (Barbados). Previously, Kholofelo practiced law at a commercial law firm in Johannesburg and worked at the NEPAD e-Africa Commission (now part of the African Union) and for the South African government.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and International Politics (University of South Africa), an LLB degree, cum laude (Wits University), and a Master’s degree in International Law and Economics, summa cum laude (World Trade Institute, University of Bern). Kholofelo is an admitted attorney in her native South Africa.
