Rent seeking and financial flows in the mining sector - Latin America 2000-2015: Challenges for International Cooperation, challenges for Switzerland
A Brown Bag lunch organised by the SDC with Jean Acquatella, PhD, Economic Affairs Officer in the Natural Resources and Energy Unit of the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (UN ECLAC).
This event is part of a broader reflection of SDC in the context of an ongoing national and international debate on commodity trading and illicit financial flows. Together with the Swiss National Foundation, SDC has launched a research program Natural Resource Governance for Sustainable Development. Moreover, in response to several interventions by individual parliamentarians, the Federal Council in the course of 2016 will submit a Report on Illicit Financial Flows from Developing Countries.
