GEG Seminar with Arti Gobind Daswani, WTO: "Areas of Work of the WTO Secretariat"

About the speaker

Arti Gobind Daswani has been engaged in international trade since 2005, holding various roles. She is currently in the Market Access Division of the World Trade Organization (WTO), where she supports the Council for Trade in Goods and the Committee on Customs Valuation. Additionally, Arti leads efforts in formulating AI guidelines and fostering an AI interest group.

Previously she worked for the WTO's Council and Trade Negotiations Committee Division, supporting the General Council and the Ministerial Conference; the Legal Affairs Division assisting dispute settlement panels; the Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures Section of the Agriculture and Commodities Division servicing the SPS Committee; the Trade Facilitation Section; and the Institute for Training and Technical Cooperation. Arti has also been a trade policy advisor to developing countries in their WTO accession processes and provided support to arbitration panels for trade disputes.

Arti holds a law degree from the Universidad de Chile; a Master's in EU Law from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid; diplomas on WTO Studies, Food Law, and EU Competition Law; and is presently attending the Oxford Artificial Intelligence Programme.
