Ms. Shubhangi Sonpir
Shubhangi Sonpir is enrolled in the TRAIL+9 program at the World Trade Institute, University of Bern. She holds a B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) from Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur. She has worked as a Research Assistant to Dr. Amrita Bahri under the WTO Chairs Programme, contributing to OECD, UNECA, and FCDO-UK projects on gender-responsive trade provisions and developing databases for Free Trade Agreements. She also contributed to the Oxford University Press volume on Trade and Gender, providing treaty analysis and policy insights on arbitration and mediation.
Shubhangi has interned with the International Arbitration and Mediation Centre (IAMC), Hyderabad, engaging in research on arbitration law, procedural rules, and international conventions, alongside drafting case summaries and legal memoranda. Her previous internships span intellectual property, real estate, corporate law, succession law, and commercial litigation across major law firms in Hyderabad, Pune, Delhi, and Mumbai.
Her academic work includes book chapters on data protection in international trade, intellectual property challenges for developing countries, and human rights under the ICCPR. She has presented research at multiple conferences on AI-driven supply chains, gender inclusion in FTAs, and vulnerability in trade policy. Shubhangi was selected for the WTO Youth Talent Incubator Program 2024–25 and is preparing a policy paper for the 2025 World Trade Congress on Gender at the WTO, Geneva.
