Course 1: Introduction to International Negotiation and Conflict Management (onsite only)
This intensive four-day program offers post-graduate students and professionals from business, government, international organizations, and NGOs a solid foundation in negotiation and conflict-resolution. Designed for individuals who operate in challenging negotiation environments – who wish to critically reflect on and further develop their own negotiation skills – the course enhances participants’ awareness of negotiation dynamics and provides essential concepts, tools, and techniques for managing conflicting interests and achieving constructive, sustainable outcomes.
Course dates: March 6, 13, 20 and 27, 2026
Participants will develop a clear understanding of how negotiation works and which factors drive successful outcomes. The course emphasizes that effective negotiation is not an innate talent, but a skill that anyone can learn by practicing and critically reviewing. Participants will discover how to plan, structure, and conduct negotiations more confidently – whether in bilateral meetings, team settings, or multilateral contexts.
The curriculum blends foundational theory with practical, hands-on learning. Core principles are introduced through preparatory readings and short conceptual inputs, and then applied through interactive role-plays, mock negotiations, case discussions, and self-assessment exercises. This approach ensures that participants not only understand negotiation frameworks, but can also translate them directly into their professional practice.
This course is ideal for individuals seeking to strengthen their negotiation awareness and manage conflicts of interest more constructively – even under time pressure or uncertainty. Active participation in all modules, exercises, and group discussions is essential to gain the full benefit of the learning experience.
The program is taught by Prof. Dr. Felix Addor, a highly experienced international negotiator with the Swiss government and Deputy Director General of the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (Swiss Ministry of Justice). With more than thirty years of negotiation experience, he also serves as a Titular Professor and Lecturer of Negotiation and Conflict Resolution at the Law Faculties of the Universities of Bern and Zurich, bringing both academic depth and real-world insight to the classroom.
Join this course to gain a strong foundation in negotiation and to build skills that will support your professional growth in demanding negotiation environments.
