MILE (Master of Advanced Studies in International Law and Economics)

Established in 1999, MILE is the flagship programme of the World Trade Institute. It is designed for students and professionals with a background in law, economics, international relations or political science, who wish to broaden their knowledge of international trade and investment. The programme uniquely combines a multidisciplinary perspective with a strong applied focus.

  • A one-year intensive graduate programme (can also be taken part-time over three years)
  • Teaching and guidance from world-class scholars and practitioners from leading universities, international organisations, think tanks and law firms
  • 90 ECTS credits (course work 75 ECTS + thesis 15 ECTS)
  • Upon graduation, you join a vibrant alumni network with over 600 members worldwide

Deadlines

  • Early bird: 1 December (applications submitted before this deadline will be given priority)
  • Regular deadline: 31 January (applications submitted after the deadline will still be considered if space allows, however please be mindful of Visa regulations and timings for your nationality)

TRAIL+ (LL.M. in International Trade and Investment Law and Diploma in International Law and Economics)

This programme is specially designed for students and professionals with a legal background interested in specialising in international economic law with an interdisciplinary outlook on the global economy and trade policy. This programme is offered at the World Trade Institute in cooperation with the Faculty of Law of the University of Bern. Upon successful conclusion of the TRAIL+ programme, you are awarded an LL.M. in International Trade and Investment Law and a Diploma of Advanced Studies (DAS) in International Law and Economics.
