Congratulations to WTI Alumna Teresa Mera on Her Appointment as Peru’s Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism

The World Trade Institute (WTI) extends its warmest congratulations to Teresa Stella Mera Gómez, alumna of the Master’s in International Law and Economics programme at the University of Bern, on her appointment as Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism of Peru.

Minister Mera was sworn in by the President of the Republic, José Jerí Oré, in a ceremony held at the Government Palace. She joins the cabinet of the President of the Council of Ministers, Ernesto Álvarez, succeeding Úrsula Desilú León Chempén, who had served since September 2024.

A highly accomplished professional with over 30 years of experience in the public sector, Minister Mera has held key positions at Mincetur, Promperú, and Indecopi. Prior to her appointment, she served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade since December 2022. Throughout her career, she has represented Peru in major international trade negotiations with partners including the European Union, Canada, China, Japan, Korea, the United States, Mexico, Thailand, and the Pacific Alliance.
