In Loving Memory of Ivaylo “Ivo” Ivanov, Cherished Member of the WTI Community
With deep sorrow, the World Trade Institute remembers its alumnus Ivaylo “Ivo” Ivanov, a cherished member of the MILE 7 community whose life and spirit left a lasting mark on all who knew him. His passing is a profound loss to friends, colleagues, and the wider WTI community, who will hold his memory with gratitude and admiration.
Statement from MILE 7 - Ivaylo Ivanov
“It is never easy to say goodbye to a beloved friend and colleague, moreover one who possessed the human qualities Ivo had. He was a trusted and inspiring friend, a dedicated professional, nature lover and defender. Ivo was part of MILE 7. He left great memories in Bern whether in the classroom or a mountain hike with his peaceful and kind demeanour only broken by a sweet laugh. He was a warm, sunny, energizing, always helpful and generous human being, whose presence brought light and smiles to those around him. Ivo was an excellent lawyer who devoted the past years to preserving nature in Bulgaria, a cause that reflected his deep values, commitment and passion for driving positive change. In an interview on his work and what drives him personally, he said: “Nature is here to stay, with or without mankind. We should strive to make minimal impact…And we are here to protect its rich biodiversity.”
From all your friends at WTI, rest in peace in the forests of heaven, comrade in arms.
Statement from WTI’s Founder, Prof. Thomas Cottier
“The loss of Ivaylo Ivanov fills all of us with great sadness. A young life came to an end much too early. He was an esteemed and dedicated student of MILE 7. Ever since he was dedicated to advance the rule of law as a successful lawyer in his different fields of work. We were proud of him, and he will be missed in the WTI community. We shall keep fond memories in gratitude. The WTI extends our sincere condolences to his family and close friends all around the world. “
