No Moot Point at the WTI: Celebrating Our Students’ Hard Work and Success

Congratulations to the WTI master’s students who successfully represented the Institute in this year’s John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition!

The WTI team won one of the two European Regional Rounds, held in Belgium in February 2026. Team member Paul Rit was also named Best Orator of the Grand Final. We are equally proud of the team’s strong performance at the Global Rounds in Geneva in June.

"Throughout the competition, our students engaged thoughtfully with critical issues facing international trade, including manufacturing capacity, climate change, child labor, and economic development. Their hard work gave them valuable experience in international trade dispute settlement," says Niki Koumadoraki, coach and doctoral candidate at the World Trade Institute at the University of Berm.

"And really -- just as importantly, they demonstrated exceptional teamwork and supported one another from beginning to end," added Saheli Wikramanayake, coach and research associate at the Centre for International Law at the National University of Singapore.

Organized by the European Law Students’ Association (ELSA), the John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition is one of the world’s leading student competitions in international trade law. The WTI is proud to serve as an academic supporter of the competition.
