Tariffs, WTO schedules and Article XXVIII renegotiations

Part of a broader one-week WTI course, this one-day training will examine tariffs, the operation of WTO Goods Schedules and tariff renegotiations under Article XXVIII of the GATT 1994, combining legal and strategic analysis with practical exercises.

Participants will assess the process for and implications of changing tariff commitments for governments, businesses, supply chains, and market access. It offers government officials, legal practitioners, and trade professionals a deep dive into the legal and practical decisions that determine tariff (re)negotiations.

The training will be delivered by Roy Santana (Senior Counsellor in the Market Access Division of the WTO Secretariat and the Secretary to the WTO Council for Trade in Goods). No previous background in the subject is required.
