WTI in Rio+20

Baris Karapinar, co-leader of the NCCR’s work package on climate change and trade, will attend the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD), better known as Rio+20

The United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD) will take place in Brazil from 20–22 June 2012 to mark the 20th anniversary of the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), in Rio de Janeiro. The Conference will focus on two themes: a green economy in the context of sustainable development and poverty eradication and furthermore the institutional framework for sustainable development.

Baris Karapinar, NCCR work package co-leader, will participate in the “Trade and Sustainable Development Symposium” which is organised by the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD) and Centro Brasileiro de Relações Internacionais (CEBRI).

The Symposium aims to generate new and innovative proposals for fostering strong multilateral regimes supportive of trade and sustainable development. Baris will discuss his recent work on the relationship between export restrictions and sustainable management of natural resources.
