Starting out on the next MILE

WTI’s Master of International Law and Economics (MILE) programme for 2013-2014 began on 9 September with 27 participants from 18 countries enrolled. Welcome to all our new students!

As in previous years the course consists of a number of modules and culminates in the MILE Moot Court – a simulation of a trade dispute between two countries - at the end of June.

The first term, which runs until December, is introductory and provides students with foundational knowledge and skills that will be developed in the second and third terms. Modules on the history of trade regulation and the politics of international trade will be followed by those on public international and WTO law and global political economy.

Students will also acquire a vital grounding in academic English.

WTI Managing Director Professor Thomas Cottier, who is teaching the first module, was enthusiastic about the new intake. “First impressions are very positive,” he said. “The group is the ideal size for teaching and they seem very motivated.”
