WTI elves spread Christmas cheer

A group of WTI staff and researchers will be visiting the children’s hospital in Bern on 18 December to perform a sketch and sing Christmas carols.

There are between 20 and 40 children being treated in Bern University Hospital children's clinic.

The WTI group members hope to provide amusement with their sketch in which they play the part of Santa’s elves, preparing presents for Christmas. While one clumsy elf can’t get anything right, the others come to his aid, and eventually all the gifts (generously donated by Waldmeier AG) are wrapped and ready to be distributed to the children by Santa Claus (Professor Dr Thomas Cottier).

Playing the part of the elves are Shaheeza Lalani, Christine Kreis, Roberto Claros, Clarence Siziba, Rodrigo Polanco, Jenny Surbeck, Simona Weber and Sascha Finger.

“The new gifts provided by Waldmeier AG will allow us to make this performance a real Christmas experience for everyone,” commented Sascha Finger.

As part of efforts to engage with the local community, WTI staff and doctoral students sang songs at a retirement home in Bern earlier this year.
