Swiss embassy event marks Joint Academy in India

The Swiss embassy in Delhi marked the latest edition of the WTI-co-organised Joint Summer Academy in India by hosting a reception for participants during the second week. The embassy event was also attended by MILE alumni and other stakeholders.

Krista Nadakavukaren Schefer, Head of Legal Services at the Swiss Institute of Comparative Law, gave a presentation on ‘Rethinking Investor-State Relations’, which was followed by a discussion and a networking dinner.

The embassy has held a reception to honour the Joint Academy for several years. Last year WTI Director of Studies Peter Van den Bossche as invited to lecture at the event.

The Joint Academy was established in 2014 by the WTI and the Centre for WTO Studies (CWS) of the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) to provide law students and legal professionals in India with an opportunity to increase their knowledge of trade regulation and governance issues.

There are 25 students from various law schools from all over India, as well as professionals, participating in specific weeks of the Academy.

The course modules this year cover WTO provisions, investment law, trade and IPR, SPS and TBT, trade in services and trade remedies.

The 2018 Joint Academy runs from 4 to 29 June.
