WTI professor participates in EU free trade agreements workshop

Damian Raess, a faculty member and research project leader at the WTI, participated as a panellist in a workshop on 'The future of sustainable development chapters in EU free trade agreements' held in Brussels on 19 June.

Professor Raess took part in the first panel on innovation in the social, economic and environmental pillars of sustainable development.

The panel was moderated by Bernd Lange, MEP, and included contributions from two other experts, Evita Schmieg of the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) and Tancrède Voiturier of the Institut du Développement Durables et des Relations Internationales (IDDRI) and Sciences Po Paris.

It was followed by a discussion round and a second panel on the view of EU institutions.

The workshop was organised by the Committee on International Trade (INTA) of the European Parliament Directorate-General for External Policies.
