Book Launch during the WTO Ministerial Conference (MC 8)

As a side event of the WTO Ministerial, the book launch of "The Prospects of International Trade Regulation" took place in Geneva on 15 December 2011.

Before the snow fell, Geneva showed its rainy face to the delegates of the WTO Ministerial Conference. While the opening session was starting in the nearby conference centre, the presenters of the book "The Prospects of International Trade Regulation" (edited by Thomas Cottier and Panagiotis Delimatsis) cleared their throats to present and discuss their contributions to the book with a selected audience. Moderator Hannes Schloemann compared this simultaneous setting with a film festival where during the great opening gala the actual vibrant meeting point is the venue for the parallel film screening. So the protagonists set off: Thomas Cottier spoke about the development of this book which brings together the findings of the first phase of the National Centre of Competence in Research (NCCR) Trade Regulation. Joëlle de Sépibus and Sofya Matteotti comtemplated about energy matters in the context of the WTO law, whereas Panos Delimatsis outlined the trade rules for services. Susan Newman offered new insights with her presentation about volatile commodity prices. This was the contribution of the NCCR Trade Regulation to this year's Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization, both as an event and content-wise.
