10th anniversary of China’s accession to the WTO
Thomas Cottier gave a key note speech at the conference “China in the WTO at Ten” in Xi’an, China on 4 November 2011.
Thomas Cottier acknowledges China’s efforts to abide by this new rule of law – no other country has achieved this transition in such a short time. Soon after its accession China was subject to multiple dispute settlement claims. However, instead of bemoaning these new procedures, they led the country to gain invaluable experience of the multilateral trade regulation system.
