Cristina Sanchez Rocha obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Social Science with a major in Economics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú). Prior to joining the MILE she advised the Vice-Ministry of Fisheries of Peru on economics and trade related issues. Earlier, she worked at the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism of Peru for almost four years, dealing with trade in goods issues, especially those related to market access for agricultural and non-agricultural goods.
She was a member of the Non-Agricultural Market Access and Agriculture negotiations team in Trade Forums such as the World Trade Organization (WTO), Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), European Free Trade Association (EFTA), Canada, European Union, Mexico, China, Japan and Korea. She also participated in the legal scrubbing of the China – Peru FTA and in the implementation process of the United States of America – Peru FTA. In her free time she enjoys playing volleyball, theater and cinema.
