Tetyana Payosova is a senior associate in Van Bael & Bellis’ Geneva office. Her practice focuses on international economic law and international dispute settlement, with a particular emphasis on international trade law and WTO dispute settlement. Tetyana has been involved in a number of WTO disputes arising in different sectors of economy and involving a broad range of substantive issues. She advises WTO Members at every stage of WTO dispute settlement proceedings and assists with mutually agreed solutions. Tetyana also advises clients on WTO and FTA negotiations, compatibility of national laws and regulations with WTO and FTA obligations, and on emerging cross-cutting issues, in particular, in the context of trade and environment, including carbon border adjustments, deforestation and sustainability due diligence. In addition to WTO law, Tetyana also advises clients on EU renewable energy legislation, foreign direct investment screening, issues related to Brexit, sanctions and export control. Tetyana regularly lectures on international and EU trade law and speaks at conferences and seminars dealing with international trade. She has also published widely in the area of international law.

Prior to joining Van Bael & Bellis, Tetyana worked as legal adviser at the International Rail Transport Committee (CIT) and as research fellow at the University of Bern. She also interned with the Peterson Institute for International Economics in Washington DC.

Tetyana holds an LL.M. degree from the Harvard Law School (USA), a PhD and a Master of Law degrees from the University of Bern (Switzerland) and Master and Bachelor of Law degrees from the National University Odesa Law Academy (Ukraine).
