Iryna Polovets is Advisor to a Deputy Director-General at the World Trade Organization (WTO). Previously, she worked as Dispute Settlement Lawyer in the Appellate Body Secretariat and the Legal Affairs Division of the WTO where she assisted Appellate Body members and panelists in resolving numerous inter-state trade disputes. Prior to joining the WTO, she worked in law firms in Kyiv and Brussels as well as at the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD).

Iryna holds a Bachelor's degree from Odesa National Maritime Academy and a Master's degree from Kyiv National Economic University (Ukraine) as well as a Master in International Law and Economics (MILE) degree from the World Trade Institute (WTI), University of Bern (Switzerland), and an LLM in International Trade and Business Law from the University of Arizona (USA). She was a recipient of various scholarships and awards throughout her studies, including the Fulbright Graduate Student Award, the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship, the Swiss State Secretariat of Economic Affairs (SECO) scholarship, and the Munger Prize for Scholars in International and Business Law.

Iryna has delivered numerous guest lectures on international trade and the WTO, including at the Hague Academy of International Law. She has been teaching written and oral advocacy at the MILE Programme of the WTI since 2015. She also co-authored the moot court case for the 22nd edition of the John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition on WTO Law.
