Jimena María Solar Alvarez graduated Magna cum Laude from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. She has further been a visiting student at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, and a visiting researcher at theUniversidade de São Paulo.   Jimena worked within the competition area of Muniz, Ramirez, Perez-Taiman& Luna-Victoria Attorneys at Law, among the most important law firms in Peru; the Legal Service of the General Secretariat of the Andean Community, the executive and technical branch of this subregional integration system; and the Legal Advising Office of the Commission on the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (PROMPERÚ), the public agency under the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR). This diverse background led to her to participation in regional integration advising and proceedings before Peruvian and international authorities and tribunals. This gave her solid working experience in international economic law (market access, trade remedies, free competition, intellectual property, and international negotiations). Jimena also has academic experience participating in the design and execution of the University Network of the Andean Community Law, a platform that encourages teaching and research of the Andean Community’s legal system, and as teaching assistant of international economic law, international organisms and economic integration, and research seminars in leading Peruvian universities such as the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. Jimena has published articles analyzing the arbitration proceedings and the organs of the regional integration processes in South America.  Her mother tongue is Spanish and she is fluent in English and Portuguese.  Jimena was admitted to Bar of Lima, Peru in 2010.
