PhD student in Political Science

Leonardo Campos is a seasoned professional in International Trade, having served as a trade officer at the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency. In this role he assisted over 1,000 companies enter international markets capitalizing more than USD 500 million in exports. In this role, Leonardo participated in trade missions in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas.

Now a PhD candidate in political science at the World Trade Institute (WTI), Leonardo is researching the intersection between preferential trade agreements and (inter)national political developments. The research is operated under a Swiss National Foundation for Science (SNSF) grant for the DESTA Project, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Manfred Elsig. His interests also span the political economy of artificial intelligence and the trade-environment nexus.

Leonardo is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, and English. He has a working command of French and German. He enjoys spending his spare time in the outdoors, hiking, playing football or snowboarding.
