Dr. Amrita Bahri is Associate Professor of International Trade Law at ITAM and Chair Professor for the WTO Chairs Programme in Mexico. She is also the Founding Chair of the International Trade & Investment Law Research Group of the Law Schools Global League and a Founding Member of the South Asian International Economic Law Network.

Amrita has published in the areas of international trade law, inclusive trade policies, WTO dispute settlement, and public private partnership for capacity-building in emerging economies. She has authored two monographs: Trade Agreements and Women: Transcending Barriers (Oxford University Press, 2025) and Public Private Partnership for WTO dispute settlement: Enabling Developing Countries (Edward Elgar, 2018). Her academic articles are published in prestigious journals including Journal of International Economic Law, World Trade Review, Journal of World Trade, European Journal of International Law, and others. Amrita also serves on the Editorial Board of Journal of International Economic Law (JIEL) and Journal of Law, Market & Innovation (JLMI).

Amrita has been appointed by the European Commission to the pool of candidates to Chair the Expert Panel Proceedings on Trade and Sustainable Development. Working with International Trade Centre’s (ITC) team, Amrita has designed the very first framework to measure gender-responsiveness of free trade agreements. She explains this framework in ITC’s policy paper titled “Mainstreaming Gender in Free Trade Agreements”.
