Professor Dr. Sufian Jusoh is the Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (the National University of Malaysia), since 5th of June 2025. Between 2018 and 2025, Sufian served as the Director and a Professor of International Trade and Investment of the Institute of Malaysian and International Studies (IKMAS UKM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He is a globally renown expert and scholar in the realm of International Trade and Investment, ASEAN and Regional Integration, and International Development. Professor Sufian leads a knowledge team supporting the ASEAN Chairmanship 2025, with main contribution to the drafting of the ASEAN Vision 2045, the ASEAN Economic Community Strategic Plan 2026-20230 and the ASEAN Higher Education Declaration. Professor Sufian used to be a Malaysian delegate to the ASEAN High Level Task Force for ASEAN Community Vision Post 2025. In APEC, Professor Dr. Sufian Jusoh played a key role in the success of Malaysia’s chairmanship of APEC 2020, leading to the APEC Putrajaya Vision 2040, Malaysian representative to the preparation of the APEC Food Security Roadmap 2030, and a delegate to the APEC Investment Expert Group.

Professor Dr. Sufian Jusoh is an FDI Advisor, ArtNet, under the United Nations Economic Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), an International Investment Policy Consultant at the World Bank Group, an External Fellow at the World Trade Institute, University of Bern, Switzerland, Malaysia’s representative to ERIA RIN and a Co-Founder of the ASEAN Economic Integration Forum. Sufian played a key role in the reform of the investment policies in Bangladesh, Malaysia, Laos, Myanmar, Timor-Leste, the Federated States of Micronesia and Pakistan.  Sufian collaborates with World Economic Forum, World Trade Institute, Oxford University and the University of Cambridge. Sufian is also entrusted by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia to establish the Malaysia-Switzerland Higher Education Nexus.

Sufian is a Barrister-at-Law (England and Wales) of Lincoln’s Inn, London, and holds an LL.B (Hons.) from Cardiff Law School; LL.M (Merit), University College London, and a Doctor of Law (summa cum Laude) from University of Bern, Switzerland.
