Malebakeng Forere wrote her PhD on multilevel governance in the global trading system. In particular, the research sought to find ways in which the relationship between the regional trade agreements and World Trade Organization (WTO) dispute settlement mechanisms could be reformed to achieve coherence in the fragmented global trading system. She joined the WTI under the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) Project through the Mandela Institute of the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa. She is also a member of the law faculty of the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, where she lectures on both undergraduate and postgraduate law modules. Malebakeng holds a BA in Law and an LLB from the National University of Lesotho. In addition, she graduated from the University of Essex, United Kingdom, with a Master of Laws (LLM) in International Human Rights Law. She has served as Chairperson of the African International Economic Law Network, and is an advocate of the High Court of Lesotho. Her recent publications are on regional economic integration in Africa.
