Speaker biography

Natalie Sleeman started her duties as Counsellor and Head of the Trade and Economic Affairs Section at the Delegation of the European Union for Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein in August 2019. In her current position, she is responsible to overlook and coordinate the EU trade and economic relations with Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein. This involves Coordination with EU Member States, follow up on Trade policy developments and the implementation of the EU-CH Bilateral agreements, with participation in all relevant Joint Committees. This position also involves representation and communication activities to communicate the EU's position on EU trade policy, explaining and defending EU economic and monetary policies to Swiss audiences and participating as a speaker in conferences on trade and economic matters.

She looks back at a career of over 25 years in the EU institutions, first in the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and since 2002 in the European Commission.

Most recently, Natalie Sleeman was a case handler at the Investigation and Disciplinary Office of the European Commission. Previously, she occupied positions in the Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers, Internal Market, Enterprise and Industry and Agriculture. She focussed on international relations and negotiations in areas such as intellectual property, financial services, agricultural imports, technical barriers to trade and judicial reforms.

Natalie Sleeman is Austrian and French. She obtained a Master’s degree in economic and social administration at the University of Charles de Gaulle in Lille and a postgraduate diploma in international administration at the University of Panthéon-Assas in Paris.
