The concept of sustainable development, as it was established in 1987 by the World Commission on Environment and Development,has become an integral part of politics and the law as a vision and a legal concept. But what exactly is its normative content, and what is its significance as a legal concept? Can a term which is as flexible as sustainable development be a legal term at all?
