USMCA Chapter 31 State-State Dispute Settlement: Christian Häberli named as Panelist

The successor agreement to NAFTA entered into force on 1 July 2020, with the same three parties. The new acronym is USMCA (Agreement between the United States of America, the United Mexican States, and Canada). WTI Fellow Christian Häberli is one of 30 people who will act as panelists in case settlements between parties.

This new agreement contains different types of dispute settlement mechanisms. For the administration of State-to-State dispute settlement proceedings, 30 people have been nominated to the roster of panelists, pursuant to Section A of Chapter 31 of the agreement. The WTI is pleased to note that Christian Häberli, WTI Fellow since 2007, is one of the panelists who could be called to serve in cases between the parties.
